The smart TV that is currently being reported as Samsung’s main entry to the annual technology festival that is the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has now been given further ‘details’, with the set reportedly due to be the latest to join the ’Ultra-High Definition’ trade and simultaneously making their mark as one of the largest, with a proposed 110-inch set.
The product (larger than the one included in their previously-rumoured plans) would be revealed at the CES 2013 event in Las Vegas (USA) next month (scheduled dates 8-11 January), and will enable the South Korean company to show off what they believe to be the ‘best-ever definition and design’ of a TV set in history.
An ‘anonymous tipster’ (also described as a ‘Samsung official’) is said to have described the plans to South Korean news site MK News: “At next year’s CES to be open on January 8 in Las Vegas, Samsung will have its 110-inch UHD TV on display. Not to mention ultra-sized screen, our UHD TV will boast the best-ever definition and design that you haven’t experienced before.”
If the product is revealed, the Samsung (who are said to have dropped their plans for revealing a new smartphone at the show) would be joining a club which includes a number of other high-profile members mainly from Asia, including inaugural standard-bearers LG, Panasonic, Sony, and Sharp, all of whom have already unleashed their large-sized ’4K’ TV sets on the global market.
While it is unclear whether the TV set will be one that can prove to have a ‘reasonable’-looking launch cost or decent features compared to their connected rivals, Samsung will at least be able to take solace in the fact that a 110-inch Ultra-High Definition TV set is something that Apple have definitely not got a patent on, though if Maltese researchers are correct, that may be the least of their concerns with operating a connected TV set…
