Samsung Plan Flexi-Tablet To Go With Phone

Samsung’s efforts to create a market-leading presence of flexible screens has brought forth rumours that they are planning to give their upcoming ’Galaxy Note 3′ hybrid tablet product the ‘Youm’ feature, according to a recent report from South Korean website Asiae.

The report claims that the native company have been internally proposing to include the ‘flexible OLED technology’ featured at the CES 2013 trade show on their Windows-powered Galaxy S4 smartphone device.

The bendable OLED displays, known for being a ‘damage-resistant’ form of plastic that can fold close to the physical characteristics of paper, is likely to slowly make its way onto other portable devices in the market in the near future, even if some may consider it a novelty for its appearance.

A roughly-translated quote from the report in Korean reads from an interview with ‘industry sources’: “So far [Samsung are] focused on the size and resolution of the display technology progress in spite of the now celebrated the new changes that are flexible. Galaxy Note 3 [is] something different, such as smart phones, folding bends closer one foot than seen with the phone.”

Aside from any ‘physics-defying’ selling points, the smartphone/tablet hybrid product has been subject to plenty of speculation, including the size of the screen which is hinted at being as low as ’5.9′, and as high as a ’6.3-inch’ display. Power-wise, the device is expected to carry the new ‘Samsung eight-core chip’ or a ‘quad-core processor’ for select markets, while boasting ‘improved’ S Pen stylus and touchscreen technology, along with refined traits carried over from their most recent Galaxy smartphone such as ‘touchless control’ (AirView), and eye-tracking technology, amongst others.

Rumoured for an official reveal with the ‘Galaxy Tab 3′ tablet computer during the annual IFA technology show this September in Berlin (Germany), will Samsung’s attempts bring them one step closer to their previously-announced ‘dream’ product?
